Certified organic by the Soil Association

Mole End Farms has been certified organic by the Soil Association from the very beginning of its journey. Organic farming avoids the use of synthetic fertilisers, as the principles of organic farming are based on nourishing plants naturally, by building fertile soils. It combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment.

No other defined system of farming and food production comes close to delivering so many benefits for wildlife, society and the natural world. To become organic you must work to a strict set of standards, which must legally comply with international organic regulations to ensure that farms sustain the health of:

Certification is legally required to grow, process or market organic products, and all organic farms and companies are inspected by a certification body, at least once a year. This means that when you see the organic symbol, you can trust that the food and drink you buy has been made in a way that is better for people, animals and wildlife, and respects the natural environment.

In 2023 Mole End Farms was certified by LEAF. This allows us to demonstrate our commitment to producing crops of the highest standards whilst respecting the environment.

As farmers we understand that whilst we tend the land we must maintain the delicate balance with our local environment to be truly sustainable

FWAG

Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG)

To enable us to achieve our LEAF certification Mole End Farms worked with FWAG . One of their dedicated advisors was able to help support our goals of creating a more sustainable farming environment. With the help of FWAG we were able to identify that 43% of our 110 hectares is managed as habitat thanks to the mowing regime within the fruit alleys, hedgerows and areas of permanent grassland.
Sedex

Sedex:

Sedex stands for Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, this is an online system that allows us to maintain data on ethical & responsible practices which is shared with our customers to ensure we are meeting industry standards.

Soil association Exchange

Soil Association Exchange:

In 2023 Mole End Farms began working with the Soil Association Exchange. With the advice of SAX we have looked to raise our environmental credentials to continue to be a responsible producer and to protect the British Countryside.

Renewable energy and carbon emissions

Renewable Energy and Carbon Emissions

Mole End Farms have made significant investments in solar energy by installing solar panels on three of our sites. This investment as well as the many thousands of trees that have been planted over the years means that we are sequestering 230t/CO2 per year.

Mole End Farms is now part of Carbon Literacy. Carbon Literacy is relevant climate change learning that lead to positivity and action towards reducing carbon emissions.
